€16.00

Handmade potholders sewn in patchwork technique make a lovely gift for any home. They create a festive mood in both winter and summer. One potholder has an embroidered English message: No mistakes, Only new recipes. Measurements 24 x 24 cm. Material: cotton fabrics, filled with thick cotton batting. The octagram, or eight-pointed cross, a light-radiating cross, is widely known across Europe as a magical sign of good luck, a symbol of love and fertility. It was also known as the symbol of Venus, the morning star - a symbol of light against darkness. As a symbol of the North Star, it serves as a direction marker, showing both the main compass points and the intermediate ones such as northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest.

Frequently asked questions

How and how quickly will my order arrive?
We ship orders to a parcel machine or by courier across Europe. All products in the shop are dispatched within 2–7 business days. For special orders we agree the delivery time separately.
Can I return or exchange a product?
Yes, products bought from the online shop have a 14-day right of return from the date you receive them. The item must be unused and in its original condition. Items made specially to order cannot be returned.
How do I care for woolen and linen products?
We recommend washing woolen and linen handmade products by hand in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent, and drying them laid flat. Avoid hard wringing, heat and the tumble dryer so the item keeps its shape and colour.

The maker

Mailis Design

My passion and joy is to create something new, beautiful and practical out of materials that have become unwanted — pieces that delight the eye and warm the heart.

In my work I place great emphasis on quality and sustainability. I mainly sew handmade products for the home, office, kindergarten, school and as gift bags, using leftovers from large-scale production and materials sourced from second-hand shops (upcycled/zero-waste).

Mailis Design products have supported various youth sports and cultural events, scouts and the local village society, Tallinn Zoo, children with cancer, homeless animals, large families and more.
